What Our Partners Are Saying

Full Program Description

Want a full breakdown of what to expect?

Read on to learn exactly what is covered during our time together.

Term 1: ‘Scanning Your School’

A school scan is an essential first step toward making meaningful and lasting changes at your school and pinpointing EXACTLY what your staff and school need. A scan of staff wellbeing enables us to be curious about our people and stay open to new kinds of information and insights about our leadership, team formation, relationships, school culture, strengths, and areas for development.

Key Objectives This Term:

  • Conduct Your Survey + Receive Your Data Report – Survey staff and discover valuable insights about staff wellbeing, school culture, morale, and stressors. You will receive a comprehensive report outlining recommended priorities and action steps for improvement.
  • Scan Your School- We’ll get clear on the current state of staff wellbeing and culture across your school setting. Together, we’ll review data, observations and staff feedback in order to identify priorities moving forward.
  • Give Your Staff a Voice – Your staff will receive an introduction to what it means to be a “Well-Led” school, my approach and a review of any collected school data. All staff are given the opportunity to share their feedback about current initiatives, make suggestions for new approaches to wellbeing and provide solutions to any challenges experienced.
  • Define Your Priorities – Upon completion of your school scan, we will identify the 3 priority areas for focus in your ‘Wellbeing Action Plan’ and consult staff to ensure buy-in.

Term 2: Aligning Your Wellbeing Approach with a Whole School Vision

Any successful change strategy requires a vision for a more desired future. During term 2, we will co-create your school culture and staff wellbeing vision in consultation with your entire staff. We will review the data captured in Term 1 to envision what it will take to achieve a more successful future for your school in alignment with your identified priority areas.

Key Objectives This Term:

  • Co-Creating Vision for a More Positive School Culture – Staff begin to envision a high-performing school culture that is proactive and not reactive to staff wellbeing.  Staff will work alongside their leaders to create a joint vision for how they would like their school to look, sound and feel with everyone working together towards an improvement in school culture.
  • Communicate Your Vision to Staff – Once you have finished creating your vision alongside staff, we’ll send you a personalised vision statement and plan for display around your school. You will be supported in communicating your vision to leaders and staff to ensure buy-in and involvement.
  • Up-Skill the Leadership Team on Effective Approaches to Staff Wellbeing – Leaders will explore the key themes that are emerging in the research from all over the world relating to how to rebuild our schools after and during a time of crisis and work together to identify which recommendations would best suit their setting and staff.

Term 3: Up-Skilling Leaders and Staff in Effective Wellbeing and Culture Building Strategies

Empower leaders and staff to take responsibility for their role in creating a happy and healthy workplace. This term, your leadership teams will review their current approaches and identify key skills to develop to better support themselves and their teams. Staff are up-skilled in ways to prevent professional burnout and to recognise the joint responsibilities that improved staff wellbeing and school culture entails.

Key Objectives This Term:

  • “Developing a Hunch” – As part of the inquiry into staff wellbeing at your school, leaders and staff will be supported in identifying their joint contribution to the current school culture and proactive ways to address any challenges experienced in their school.
  • Reflect on The Joint Responsibilities of Staff Wellbeing – Staff and leaders begin to build awareness of what is actually required to ensure staff health and wellbeing are optimised at their school and how they can work together to change and improve the school’s culture.
  • Evolve Your Leadership Team’s Approach to Staff Wellbeing – Your leaders will review a range of educational leadership styles and reflect on which approaches, related actions and personal qualities are required to best support staff wellbeing and engagement at their school.

Term 4: Action Planning for Performance and Success

Putting it all together – This term, leaders work together to create a focused team vision for improved culture and discuss ways to get there. Staff are trained in essential skills and theories that will help them take responsibility for their wellbeing moving forward and better support their colleagues and leaders so they can contribute to a more positive school culture. We finish the term crafting your Wellbeing Action Plan ready for implementation.

Key Objectives This Term:

  • Align Your Leadership Approach – Creating vision as a leadership team is an essential factor for school improvement. Your leaders will consider all they have learned about their school and supporting staff wellbeing over the year to decide on an aligned approach to leading their staff “with wellbeing in mind.”
  • Staff Are Up-skilled on How to Support Their Own Personal Wellbeing – Staff are introduced to Positive Psychology and a number of helpful theories and strategies for improving health and wellbeing at work and in life. All staff are supported to build their own ‘Personalised Wellbeing Action Plan’ for use in the workplace.
  • Finalise Your Action Plan and Wellbeing Policy – We will work together to craft achievable goals, objectives, and strategies for your school’s Wellbeing Action Plan’. Your custom plan will take into account all of the reflections and suggested initiatives from leaders and staff throughout the year to ensure buy-in and involvement from all stakeholders. We will provide a Staff Wellbeing Policy to complement your plan.

What The Data We Collect in Schools Across Australia is Telling Us...

On average, 56% of staff in schools are reporting that they are burned out

Only 44% indicate that their school communicates the importance and benefits of health and wellbeing

Just 52% of those surveyed would rate their schools morale as high

Only 56% of staff agree that their workplace has a positive impact on their health and wellbeing

Why You Can NO Longer Afford to Put Staff Wellbeing on The Back-Burner

Staff wellbeing and school culture has a profound impact that affects student learning outcomes, school performance, and relationships between the whole school community. If our people aren’t faring well, then it’s unlikely they’ll bring the energy and patience needed to educate our students and collaborate effectively with colleagues and leaders.

A supportive wellbeing-focused school culture has a protective effect against stress and burnout and can help mitigate the risks associated with chronic stress, such as impacted mental and physical health. When you put staff wellbeing front and centre, you’re more likely to get staff on board with new initiatives, job satisfaction increases, morale is boosted, and school communities begin to thrive again.

Furthermore, a whole-school focus on wellbeing can provide staff and leaders with a shared vision for improved school culture. This vision promotes a sense of belonging, encourages collaboration amongst staff, sets gentle expectations and standards and provides opportunities for staff to address their wellbeing – leading the way for a more positive school culture.

If staff stress and wellbeing remain unaddressed at your school, it’s likely you will see a rise in staff shortages and absenteeism rates over the coming years – something every school should be actively trying to avoid if school performance is a priority!

👋🏻 Hi, I’m Adrienne - A Health And Wellbeing Consultant For Schools

I work alongside school leaders and their staff to build and embed a tailored ‘Staff Wellbeing Action Plan.’ Their plan will nurture a positive school environment and address teacher burnout, so that they can improve school outcomes and performance.

As a school leader, I was once unhappy, overworked, and burnt out. And when I looked around me, I could see I wasn’t alone. I knew that if I wanted to function better at work, I needed to function better myself. So I decided to completely overhaul my lifestyle and the way I approached my work.

By prioritising my health and wellness, I started to feel healthier, happier, and more engaged at work. Soon, I changed the way I led my staff and team to put their wellbeing front and centre, creating a positive team.

Since doing so, I’ve made it my mission to help schools put their people first in order to build more positive staff and school cultures.

I offer a range of tailored school wellbeing consulting services to suit the needs, budget and nuances of your specific school:

  • “Well-Led” Schools Partnership Program
  • Leadership and staff development workshops
  • Anonymous staff wellbeing surveys, data analysis + recommendations
  • Leadership and staff group and individual coaching
