SCHOOL LEADERSHIP COACHING

Individual and group coaching for leaders to strengthen their leadership skills, create a shared vision, build successful action plans, and achieve improved wellbeing at their school.

Upskill your leadership approach and create a positive ripple effect at your school

Leadership coaching sessions are designed to provide support, strategy and guidance to leaders so they can establish a successful staff health and wellbeing strategy at their school.

Using Positive Psychology, the most up-to-date educational leadership research and advice from leading wellbeing and mental health organisations, each session guides school leaders through the required steps to align their approach to supporting and improving staff wellbeing.

Sessions are spent strategising and problem solving to reach your whole school goals. You'll identify and address roadblocks to current successes, areas for new learning and receive advice on how to implement systems and strategies and take better care of yourselves and the staff you lead.

All sessions are fully customisable to your schools individual needs or can follow a recommended sequence. We work together to schedule the relevant sessions to support your leadership team and school goals.

Example session formats

Leadership Coaching sessions are tailored to your individual needs and broader school goals. A minimum of 1 session per school term is recommended.

For an idea of how sessions can look, here are examples of some of our popular session formats.

Scanning and Planning

Scanning your setting is essential to identify any themes or information that could hold the key to your staff wellbeing needs.

This introductory session helps school leaders to get clear on the current state of staff wellbeing and culture across their setting. Together, we review data, observations and staff feedback in order to identify priorities moving forward.

  • Reflect on staff wellbeing, school culture and overall staff morale as a leadership team
  • Identify the current points of need and existing initiatives already in place
  • Review of collected school data (staff wellbeing surveys, staff satisfaction data, compensation claims etc)
  • Set priorities for the year ahead
  • Receive advice and strategy for the term ahead

The most useful part of this session was looking at the staff data. We now have a real insight into our school. I am excited for moving forward together for the benefit of ALL at our school.

6 Emerging Themes in the Research

Since the dawn of the pandemic, we look around and see exhausted teachers who already had a lot on their plates pre-COVID, doing their best to teach through staff shortages and over 2 years of unrelenting stress and anxiety, with little reprieve in sight.

This session explores the 6 clear themes that are emerging in the research from all over the world relating to how to rebuild our schools after and during a time of crisis.

  • Leading through complex change: Compounding staff stress and burnout
  • Normalising mental health in schools
  • Practical ways to reduce workload
  • Relationship and community building strategies
  • Working together: Collective teacher efficacy
  • The importance of clarity and certainty
  • Rebuilding teacher identity

Evolve Your Leadership

The capacity and cohesiveness of a school leadership team contributes greatly to a positive school culture. When the school leadership is openly seen to ‘walk the talk,’ and lead with emotional intelligence, broader engagement and involvement from staff follows.

This session is spent reviewing a range of educational leadership styles and reflecting on which approach and related actions will best support staff wellbeing and engagement at your school.

  • Review school leadership styles and approaches relevant to staff wellbeing
  • Self-evaluate your leadership style
  • Discover your leadership strengths and identify areas for development
  • Recognise our varying personality styles and reflect on those differences in those we lead
  • Plan for practical ways to support our staff with their health and wellbeing

Adrienne has been a blessing in my life. She is always listening and responding, prompting me to think and act in new ways and encourages self-reflection. She sees things from a mature and experienced point of view and backs up her suggestions with evidence and results. I highly recommend Adrienne to those who need advice on any aspect of their health and wellbeing.

Creating Team Vision

Creating vision as a team is one of the first essential steps for planning school improvement. This session helps leaders to create a vision for improved staff wellbeing at their school.

  • Review the whole school vision for improved staff wellbeing and a more positive school culture
  • Identify your team values for ensuring a positive school culture
  • Brainstorm potential actions which reflect these values
  • Envision the potential result and school improvements when you or your leadership team enacts these values and actions
  • Unpack an easy to use conversation planning template to have "difficult" conversations with staff when working out of alignment with our whole school vision

“I thought the whole group coaching session was useful. The PERMA(H) model has sparked my interest. I was intrigued by the way you used supported us to build vision with the tree model and plan the beginning of tangible actions.”

Focus on Action

Strategic action planning is vitally important for ensuring a successful school health and wellbeing program at your school.

In this session, we will work together to draft achievable goals, objectives, and strategies across key areas from Positive Psychology’s PERMA model for workplace wellbeing. This session will explore each area in detail so that you can consider which action will best suit your school.

  • Explore and understand each aspect of the Positive Psychology based PERMA(H) model (Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment and Health)
  • Develop a Wellbeing Action Plan complete with evidence-based culture building, intervention and prevention strategies for workplace wellbeing
  • Review your school data and brainstorm which actions may be best suited to your school and staff's needs
  • Work as a team to develop your plan: Set goals, assign actions and begin working towards school improvement

Adrienne really took time to inform us of her approach and how she could tailor our time together to meet the specific needs of our context. As our sessions progress Adrienne continues to listen and respond to our collective and individual needs. Inspiring!

Biography

I partner with school leaders and their staff across Australia to collect the crucial data they need to build and embed a tailored ‘Staff Wellbeing Action Plan’ for their school. Each school's plan is aimed at nurturing a positive school environment and addressing teacher and staff burnout, so that they can improve their school’s outcomes and performance.

As a school leader (and teacher!), I was once unhappy, overworked and burnt out. And when I looked around me, I could see I wasn’t alone. By prioritising my own health and wellness, I started to feel healthier, happier and more engaged at work.

Using the lessons I learned on my own wellbeing journey, I transformed the way I led my staff, making their wellbeing a priority and creating positive team environments year after year. This shift in focus made me a fierce advocate for staff wellbeing in schools. It’s my mission to help schools put their people first to build more positive staff and school cultures.
